
''Opilio canestrinii'' is a species of harvestman. ''O. canestrinii'' probably originates from Italy, but has invaded central Europe since the late 1970 and has since almost everywhere replaced the similar ''O. parietinus''. It is most often found on house walls.

Fortunately there are not too many species in NL, but they still can be tricky. This one is called "Rode Hooiwagen" (Red Harvestman). The males of this species have a reddish body, much like the males of our native Leiobunum rotundum and blackwalli indeed, BUT the trochanters (the little bulbs connecting the legs to the body) of the Leiobunums are blackish and on this species these are orangy-red.
