  3. Here in Borneo we have something similar, called the Bornean Black Magpie. Really amazing how convergent evolution work. Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
    1. Oh nice I'd never heard of that species! Of course the Bornean Green Magpie tends to get most of the attention! Posted 4 years ago
      1. Oh actually the Bornean Black Magpie and Bornean Green Magpie are different species. It is the Bornean Black Magpie that looks more like yours. Posted 4 years ago
        1. Haha yes I know, that's what I meant! I was saying that the Green seems to be more popular with bird photographers as I often see photos of it, but I had never heard of the Black! Posted 4 years ago
          1. Oh yeah I get what you meant now. For sure the Greens are more popular. From where I live we only have the Black magpie since the Green Magpies are highland species. Posted 4 years ago

The Amazonian umbrellabird is a species of bird in the family Cotingidae native to the Amazon basin with a separate population on the eastern slopes of the Andes. The male bird is entirely black, with a black crest and inflatable wattle on the throat, and at 48 to 55 cm, may be the largest passerine bird in South America.
