Mega baobab in Kirindi
Although the photo may not indicate it, this by far is the most impressive tree we have ever seen. It is in the middle of the Kirindi forest, and you will need 6 to 8 people to span around it. Perhaps even more impressive are its roots, they surface horizontally at enormous distances. We could see roots of this tree as far away as 20 meters from its berk.

''Adansonia grandidieri'', sometimes known as Grandidier's baobab, is the biggest and most famous of Madagascar's six species of baobabs. This imposing and unusual tree is endemic to the island of Madagascar, where it is an endangered species threatened by the encroachment of agricultural land.
