
Brown Cuckoo-Dove - Macropygia amboinensis
The Brown Cuckoo-Dove is a large brown pigeon with a very long, tapering tail. There is a pale streak below the blue-grey eye and a red eye-ring. The female has a brighter chestnut cap and a scaly pattern on the breast. This one taken in the mid Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia

The slender-billed cuckoo-dove, or brown cuckoo-dove is a dove in the genus ''Macropygia''. In Australia, it is sometimes called "brown pigeon" or "pheasant pigeon", but both are best avoided, as they can lead to confusion with the brown doves and the true pheasant pigeon.
