Lactarius rubrilacteus One of the Lactarius mushrooms commonly called Red-bleeding Milk Cap. When cut this &lsquo;shroom exudes dark red milk and is green staining. Common in the Pacific North West it is found under Douglas Fir and 2 or 3 needle pines. <br />

One of the Lactarius mushrooms commonly called Red-bleeding Milk Cap. When cut this ‘shroom exudes dark red milk and is green staining. Common in the Pacific North West it is found under Douglas Fir and 2 or 3 needle pines.

''Lactarius rubrilacteus'' is a species of mushroom of the genus ''Lactarius''. It is also known as the bleeding milkcap, as is at least one other member of the genus, ''Lactarius deliciosus''.
