Melinocarpa Fig tree

About 7m tall fig tree fruiting with lots of small orange-colored fruits. Fruits are still young as they are not falling yet. Leaf has 4 - 10 side veins and seem firm. A widespread species in Southeast Asia but rare in Borneo. Glad to spot find this species in Borneo.

Figs do not display observable flowers as the flowers uniquely grow inside the fruits and are only visible when cut open. Hence they need fig wasps to enter and pollinate the inner flowers in the fruit through the ostiole opening which looks like a little hole at the bottom of the fruit.
