Pale fork-marked lemur in Kirindi forest at night
I'm not happy with the technical quality of this photo, yet others were even worse. I am happy though with the spotting, the only one we did of a fork-marked lemur during our Madagascar trip. There are 4 fork-marked lemur species, and they are easily recognized by the forked dark stripe on their head. They are remarkably light, although they appear much larger than a mouse lemur, they are still only 0.5kg in weight.
This one was spotted during the 2nd night walk we did in Kirindi. These species are nocturnal, active at night. They are generally spotted by light reflection from their eyes, yet getting to them and having an unblocked view is a real challenge.

The pale fork-marked lemur, or western fork-marked lemur, is known from western Madagascar; south of the Fiherenana River to the region of Soalala.
