This is the yellow form of the greengrocer cicada. Looks like it wants to go for a spin!

Nice find. Favourite insect.
This magnificent version is called the Masked Devil.
There's a yellow one without the mask called Yellow Monday, also red-brown (Chocolate Soldier) and cyan-blue (Blue Moon).
Apparently it's only a couple of genetic switches give all variations. Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
