    The Bronze Carabid (Carabus nemoralis)! Isn't it stunning?! Not only is this beetle a serious "looker", but it is a beneficial insect. It eats agricultural pests-- slugs, for example. They are such helpful predators that many farmers use them as a biocontrol agent against multiple agricultural pests.

    And, here's an additional fun fact: Bronze carabids regurgitate (barf) foul-smelling liquid as a defense mechanism. Gross, but likely very useful in deterring predation. {Spotted in France by JungleDragon user, Claude Chavand} #JungleDragon #Bronzecarabid #Carabusnemoralis #biocontrol
