  1. This cute little wren has one of the most commonly heard songs in the lowland parts of the park, especially near water: a series of pure whistles that slowly decelerate over the course of a minute or two.
Getting a good look, however, is another story, let alone getting a photo! It's skulking, favors dense undergrowth and its brown back gives it good camouflage.
I finally good this photo by perfect accident, while chasing my Soory antbird. It popped up on this branch a little below me while I was already in movement, swinging my camera towards the antbird. So I had just enough time to snap a couple photos, and then it melted in the vegetation once more, never to be seen again...

    1. I once read that when a human enters a wild scene, it inevitably disturbs it, and that the scene returns to normal in 10-20 mins. Meaning, if you sit still for that duration, you've become part of the scene and the things will happen that would normally happen if you would not be there at all.

I've always kept this trick in mind. And that's about all I do with it.

      1. Sure, one manifestation of that is that sometimes I'll stop to watch a copperative bird, and if I stay with it long enough, other birds will just pop up after some time. Posted 4 years ago
        1. And sometimes, one sat right next to your face all this time and you didn't realize it :) Posted 4 years ago

The southern nightingale-wren, also known as the scaly-breasted wren, is a species of bird in the family Troglodytidae. Its rich song varies locally over its range, suggesting that more than one species is included in the taxonomic complex currently called the southern nightingale-wren.
