
The southern nightingale-wren, also known as the scaly-breasted wren, is a species of bird in the family Troglodytidae. Its rich song varies locally over its range, suggesting that more than one species is included in the taxonomic complex currently called the southern nightingale-wren.

Getting a good look, however, is another story, let alone getting a photo! It's skulking, favors dense undergrowth and its brown back gives it good camouflage.
I finally good this photo by perfect accident, while chasing my Soory antbird. It popped up on this branch a little below me while I was already in movement, swinging my camera towards the antbird. So I had just enough time to snap a couple photos, and then it melted in the vegetation once more, never to be seen again... Posted 4 years ago
