Bufo calamita (Natterjack) in Dutch Rugstreeppad photograph taken 2020-09-28

This juvenile Natterjack was so very quick, that I could only photograph him properly om my hand. On this photo the yellow stripe, going from his nose until his anus is good visible.

      Onder de beschrijving van mijn foto staat een groene banner met de tekst "3 Bufo calamita". Als ik daarop click verschijnen er drie foto's, waarvan twee dezelfde van mij met identieke beschrijving. Eén daarvan is uiteraard overbodig.

The Natterjack Toad

The natterjack toad is a toad native to sandy and heathland areas of Europe. Adults are 60–70 mm in length and are distinguished from common toads by a yellow line down the middle of the back, and parallel paratoid glands. They have relatively short legs, and this gives them a distinctive gait, contrasting with the hopping movement of many other toad species.
