  1. I love Hylophylax antbirds, they're so chunky and boldly patterned. I met my first ones in Panama last year, then saw these in February, but by that time my camera had broken down. And then last month I finally managed to get a photo!
    They're not that shy but unlike many other antbirds, they tend not to reply to playback so it's all about playing hide and seek with them in the undergrowth that they favor.

The spot-backed antbird is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae, the antbirds. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical swamps.
