    1. It is a cool observation...I was so excited when I saw it, it made my day for sure!! Thanks for the nice words and you're welcome.
      Luckily in this area we have a local PhD that is conducting hellbender research and conservation and I contacted her and relayed all the info for this observation to her so that this area can be protected.
      This OB is a "lifer" for me, top of thee list!!

The hellbender, also known as the hellbender salamander, is a species of aquatic giant salamander endemic to the eastern and central United States. A member of the family Cryptobranchidae, the hellbender is the only extant member of the genus ''Cryptobranchus''.
