Green turtle - Chelonia mydas We startled this one as she was sleeping (night dive). At some point she came to us swimming really fast and I had to open my legs to let her pass. She hit one of my legs just on a corner. I can tell with the strength and speed at which she was swimming she could have broken my legs on impact..so yes, they are amazingly strong so don't get on their way when thye show signs of feeling cornered! The green sea turtle, also known as the green turtle, black turtle or Pacific green turtle, is a species of large sea turtle of the family Cheloniidae. It is the only species in the genus "Chelonia". Its range extends throughout tropical and subtropical seas around the world, with two distinct populations in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, but it is also found in the Indian Ocean.
