
The whiskered myiobius or bearded flycatcher is a species of bird in the family Tityridae, having previously been included in Tyrannidae. The whiskered myiobius is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.

This looks like a regular flycatcher, doesn't it? Indeed, it was classed as such for a long time, and the commonly used vernacular name still reflects that.
And yet, modern genetic studies have shown it to be in a completely different family, Tityridae, a bizarre assemblage of some 45 species whose internal anatomy share a few characteristics, but whose outer appearance varies wildly, from the tiny, cotinga-like purpletufts to the fantastic royal flycatchers!
