  1. A delightful little ball of feathers, who would always mob me when I passed by. They sort of look like wrens with an oversized bill, and they certainly behave like wrens, hopping about in the undergrowth with their short tail cocked, but they actually are more closely related to the gnatcatchers, who temselves behave more like warblers! The tawny-faced gnatwren or half-collared gnatwren is a species of bird in the family Polioptilidae.

It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
