Eastern Cauliflower Mushroom (Sparassis spathulata)
Growing at the base of a highly rotted hardwood (possibly oak?). Jason spotted this through the forest, and I climbed my way through the thick undergrowth to get a couple of shots. It was about the size of a basketball. I would have taken it home with me, but it was growing in a state park.
Aren't the flabellae (folds) really cool?!!
