Scrawled filefish - Aluterus scriptus (top view, sleeping)
I have noticed we still did not have pics from this fish seen from above so for appretiation of how thin it is I post this top view. Here is sleeping, it was during a night dive. I will post its lateral next. You will see its eye semiclosed and also the night dark blotchy coloration. It is fun to see that once you wake them up this dark blotchy colors are gone in seconds!
The scrawled filefish, "Aluterus scriptus", is a of the family Monacanthidae. Its length is up to 1.1 m, and it is found on tropical reefs circumglobally to a depth of 120 m.
