Any help with an ID is much appreciated! Found under pines and oaks on a lakeside trail in Bartow County, Georgia, US. August 30, 2020.
Cap/upper surface: Brown with some cracking around the margin.
Fertile surface: White/cream pores with no real staining.
Stipe: Brown and reticulated, slightly lighter near apex. Hollowed out by bug activity
Taste: Mild.
Odor: Didn’t note anything.
Chemistry: KOH – peachy/light red on cap. Ammonia—No reaction. Iron salts- magenta on cap.

"Boletus variipes" is a species of mycorrhizal bolete fungus in the family Boletaceae, native to North America. It was originally described by American mycologist Charles Horton Peck in 1888.
