Jacaranda mimosifolia (sub-species alba) A sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America. This rare species was introduced into Australia in 1960 by George Hewitt, a doctor from Bellingen, New South Wales. This specimen seen in the Botanic Gardens, Sydney. I hope to re-visit the gardens again around November when the Jacarandas are in flower, because I am looking forward to seeing the white flowers on this one.
