Jacaranda mimosifolia (sub-species alba)
A sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America. This rare species was introduced into Australia in 1960 by George Hewitt, a doctor from Bellingen, New South Wales. This specimen seen in the Botanic Gardens, Sydney. I hope to re-visit the gardens again around November when the Jacarandas are in flower, because I am looking forward to seeing the white flowers on this one.

"Jacaranda mimosifolia" is a sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America that has been widely planted elsewhere because of its beautiful and long-lasting blue flowers. It is also known as Jacaranda, Blue Jacaranda, Black Poui, or as the fern tree.
