  1. Sorry Deb, not a skipper. Skippers are easy to distinguish once you learn how. They have thick and big heads. Example:

Delaware Skipper An uncommon butterfly is the Delaware Skipper (Anatrytone logan) in the long grass at Alleyn-et-Cawood, Quebec, Canada. Alleyn-et-Cawood,Anatrytone logan,Canada,Delaware Skipper,Geotagged,Quebec,Summer, butterfly

  2. Saw you identified it as a Small White. It's indeed a butterfly in the Whites family (Family Pieridae) yet visually does not match with the Small White, which has a clear black spot on the wings.

Instead, based on your location and the yellow streak on the wings, I think it may be the Lyside sulphur. Pretty cool, because we did not have that species yet :)

Do want to ask you to check a bit more thoroughly before identifying. With many species (birds, butterflies) a visual appearance *somewhat matching* often is not enough to match it to one species. In that case and when stuck, best not to identify, instead mention what you think in the description.

    1. Thanks, Ferdy. I will be more careful going forward. Thanks for identifying it for me. Posted 5 years ago
      1. Thanks for understanding. I do want to ensure it didn't sound harsh. It is fine to make an identification mistake, I've made tons myself, and we have tolerance and empathy for that. So don't ever feel bad about it, if you keep an open mind to corrections and new sources, you'll very rapidly improve in accuracy.

Your ID rate is quite good, it's just that in particular categories (birds, butterflies, fungi) one has to be a bit more thorough. I'll try to help you with sources on how to do that.
