      2. Thanks Deb. Just like Ferdy I didn’t notice it as well. Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago
    2. Thanks Ferdy and yes the caterpillars know about its perfection. Posted 5 years ago
  2. Nice shot Ernst. I think this one is suffering from wrong identification on the internet. The sources I trust for these have a very different looking animal. Check the images on ALA and this site in Tas is usually accurate. Many others are wrong. https://sites.google.com/site/insectsoftasmaniahymenoptera2/suborder-apocrita--terebrant/ichneumonidae-ichneuman-wasps/ichneumon-promissorius Posted 4 years ago
    1. I agree that the original ID is incorrect - I've just posted a wasp with the ID Ernst used for this spotting of his, so this came to my attention. I've written to Ernst below and advised on the possible genus for this, but am not confident to go further. Posted 4 years ago
    2. Thank you Mark, I don’t know why I missed your comment .Yes it is not so straight forward .I think that the suggestion is a good way forward. Posted 4 years ago
  3. Hello Ernst, this is definitely not Ichneumon promissorius as originally labelled. I suggest genus Xanthocryptus, but am not confident to go further. Posted 4 years ago
    1. Ruth , I agree with your suggestion. For now or for alwise will keep it at the genus Xanthocryptus. Thank you for your input. Posted 4 years ago
