Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
This large heron was at the edge of a lakeside. It was so still as we approached that we were almost convinced that it was a stuffed bird or a statue. Unfortunately, I only had my macro lens with me, so I could not get the best shot.

The great blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands.
