Adult wild chimp in River Gambia NP. These were difficult to photograph well from a boat in the river (visitors are not allowed to set foot on the island, see my earlier description of the wild, re-introduced chimpanzees in River Gambia NP), but I thought at least one of an adult to go with my earlier infant photo. The Common chimpanzee

The common chimpanzee, also known as the robust chimpanzee, is a species of great ape. Evidence from fossils and DNA sequencing show both species of chimpanzees are the sister group to the modern human lineage.
