Six days later. This plant has been here since at least 2003 and was blooming even then. That might mean it is about 20 years old or older.

  It is. Many people look at trees as being long-lived but there are a number of herbaceous plants that can have long lives. These are not only clonal species like bracken fern or clubmosses. I had read a study that monitored the same plants of marsh marigold for 50 years. The leathery grapefern can also live for decades and some studies suggest that there are grapefern plants over 100 years old. Posted 5 years ago
