A Desert Striped Whipsnake (Masticophis taeniatus taeniatus) having a look around My wife was driving up a gravel road and I spotted this snake just as we drove past. I asked her to stop and back up, which she graciously did, and I took the photo leaning out the window. These snakes are active hunters with great vision, and are extremely fast. 1. It appears much longer than the Wikipedia claim. Lovely find! Posted 5 years ago
    1. Wikipedia says "30-72 inches", which is quite a broad estimate. This was a pretty big one, I'd guess maybe as long as 5 feet. Posted 5 years ago
