    2. They make a great jam from what I've heard. I have eaten them by themselves, and they are pretty astringent in an unprepared state. You just have to be careful not to eat the toxic pits! :D Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago

        1. I've eaten them and thought they tasted good, much better than the chokecherry. As for toxic pits all Prunus pits (except sweet almond) are toxic but it is the kernel inside that poses danger and you've got to crack the pit to get at it. Posted 5 years ago
