  1. Every time I watch documentaries of big cats chasing groups of antelopes I cannot help but think: if the antelopes would work together, the cat wouldn't stand a chance. For some reason herbivores aren't the brightest species. Posted 12 years ago

The gemsbok or gemsbuck is a large antelope in the ''Oryx'' genus. It is native to the arid regions of southern Africa, but formerly some authorities included the East African Oryx as a subspecies. Its current population in South Africa is 373,000.
