    1. Definitely! This is another plant I've had for decades. I found it along an abandoned railroad grade in northern Wisconsin in 1996 and brought a few root cuttings home. Posted 5 years ago

        1. I keep field notes of my work but for other things it is what I remember and very often includes photos with dates included. I went back to this place in 2014 and the population had really expanded. Besides the cup plant there are a number of intersting plants along the grade and adjacent wetlands. A few of them have wound up here. Posted 5 years ago

''Silphium perfoliatum'', the cup plant or cup-plant, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to eastern and central North America. It is an erect herbaceous perennial with triangular toothed leaves, and daisy-like yellow composite flower heads in summer.
