    Violet-Toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme
  • Violet-toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme The colors on this fungus were so pretty!

This species is an aggressive saprotrophic fungus hat recycles decaying hardwoods. It's very common in the northeast.

Habitat: Rotting hardwood Geotagged,Summer,Trichaptum biforme,United States,polypore,trichaptum,violet-toothed polypore
    Violet-toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme
  • Violet-toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme Semi-circular fruiting bodies with whitish, brown, and green zones of color.

I think this could be Trichaptum biforme - and that it turned green from algae? Any input would be appreciated!

  • Violet-toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme These had fantastic color! They were touching the wet ground, which probably influenced the color. The fruiting bodies on the other side of the log were dry and were not this purple...
