  • Corallina officinalis I think this was probably a rosy red when fresher - as it is it looks like tiny bones, which is not too far off of the mark. Though it is a red algae it forms a calcified "skeleton" much like a coral. Canada,Corallina officinalis,Geotagged,Summer

  • Raton Laveur in Montreal, Quebec The French name for Raccoon is "raton laveur" (~washing rat) because they sometimes soak their food in water to soften it up. Ran into this guy on a path in the foresty park at the center of Montreal. He was nice enough to post and chew something while I tried a few angles. Canada,Geotagged,Procyon lotor,Raccoon,Spring, mammal, sunset

  • A Gathering of Pisaster ochraceus. These Ochre Sea Stars are likely feeding on the barnacles attached to this exposed piling. They are exposed due to the extreme low tide. Up until 2013 this occurrence would have been commonplace but due to the “sea star wasting disease” it has been rare or nonexistent. Up until now! The Sunflower Seastar with its many arms have yet to recover. It’s good to see the return of these purple fellows. Canada,Geotagged,Pisaster ochraceus,Purple sea star,Summer
