Happy Monday from this Spotted Owlet (Athene brama)! These small owls live in Asia, and are common residents of open habitats, including farmland and areas inhabited by humans. They have even adapted to live in cities! They roost in tree hollows, rock cavities, and buildings and prey upon insects, earthworms, small birds, and rodents. Owls that roost in cities may actually have higher breeding success because of the increased availability of rodents to feed their young. And, they tend to use street lamps as hunting bases: capturing insects that are attracted to the lights!
