A Spotted Blind Snake (Afrotyphlops punctatus) on a dirt road at night My friend Kurt spotted (ha!) this small critter at the edge of a dirt road that wound through good forest habitat. We spent several minutes determining whether it was a snake, a worm, or a legless lizard before settling on "probably snake". And hey, it turned out we were right! 4. Great find John. If it's like our -typhlops it's easy to think 'worm' until they move. That sideways wriggle gives them away. Beautiful looking species. Posted 6 months ago
    1. Thanks Mark. They are definitely odd creatures. I was surprised to see this one active on the surface, as I think of blind snakes as pretty much strictly fossorial. Posted 6 months ago
