This beetle has a consistent pronotal pattern of golden stripes. It is superficially similar to many other paropsines such as Paropsisterna variicollis.

Paropsisterna decolorata is a small member of the genus Paropsisterna in the family Chrysomelidae. This beetle is rather common, phytophagous crop pest,. It is visually identifiable by the 'U' shapes pattern on the pronotum and bright basal flaring on the elytra.
