  2. Symphyotrichum patens is easy to recognize because the leaves grow around the stem. It is not the case here. Replied 4 years ago
  3. Let me take closer look. I see so many different types of asters growing at the edge of the woods, all different shades of purple. Maybe another picture will give it away. The stems and the shape leaves match closely. A subspecies of Aster Alpine, maybe??? Replied 4 years ago
  4. I see that you like the alpine aster but you should put it to rest. It has single flowers on short stems in the middle of a rosette of leaves. It grows at high altitude on rocky terrain, not at the edge of the woods and it is not reported from your region.
