Post unidentified photos of species here to get help
  1. We all spend a lot of time browsing the net in order to find reliable info to identify what we have shot. Let's help each other by sharing the useful sites we have found. Ferdy than would consider to add the best ones to the Guide. If you agree please start listing your links here. I start with a beautiful site I've just found for Spiders.
    http://www.jorgenlissner.dk/
Also, I would ask Ferdy to create additional link to the Guide, say in the upper banner next to the Species, if possible. Or inside the Species panel. Now in order to open the Guide I have to go to any unidentified photo to find the button. At least I couldn't find other path to the Guide.
In the next days I shall list links to more sites I consider useful.

  2. hi Jivo, thanks for your feedback. A few remarks:

    - JungleDragon moderators are able to add sites to the official list. There's 7 moderators currently, so any time you say "Ferdy", please know that it can be any of those 7.

    - Do list sites you would like to see added here, and I'm sure one of us will pick it up

    - I will think about whether the placement of the guide link can be improved. I'm not going to place it as a global link next to species though, that area is for the site's top level links, and I do not consider the guide one of them. I have to be very selective there, there is no room for additional links. I am open to other ideas though.

Note: I just added the site you suggested.

  3. Hi Ferdy,
yes, I know that there are 7 moderators. Sorry, I didn't want to neglect anyone of them!
Concerning the Guide link, it was just an idea... for better access and visibility. If possible.

  4. No worries, I have the guide link idea on the list. Replied 4 years ago
  5. There's a link to the guide on top of this list, which is probably easier to access.

  6. Oops! Somehow I didn't noticed it. Even now I looked several times at the page before seeing it. Yes, it is easier access. As always I was too hasty with my questions... Replied 4 years ago

  10. I tried to use this site a couple of times, but I don't like it much, because it only shows drawings of the birds, not photos of real birds. I prefer this site http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/search.aspx - there are a few photos of each species and a few of similar species next to them. Replied 4 years ago

  12. In connection with my new challenge I've just created I post here a link to one very sophisticated Aphids identification guide:

  14. Sorry, @nackyy20, but here we should post links ONLY to sites related to BIOLOGICAL SPECIES IDENTIFICATION. Replied 4 years ago
  15. @Jivko: Thanks, removed that irrelevant link. Replied 4 years ago
  16. Ferdy, check this site, please. I suggest to add it to the identification Guide.

  17. It is already in the birds section of the guide, Jivko. now that you have moderator rights, you should be able to add sites to the guide too. When you go to the guide there should be an Add new site icon on top of the page. There is also a link with instructions to Create species sites from the main Moderator page. 18. @Wildflower: Moderations rights are action-based. I had given Jivko specie management rights only. I can differentiate between individual moderators their allowed actions. Adding specie guide sites is a separate action that was not yet activated for Jivko, but it is as of now, so your instructions should work now for him. Replied 4 years ago
