Plants and Funghi

If it doesn't walk, swim or fly, it probably belongs here
  1. hi all,

I had always found fungi to be one of the dullest categories of nature to photograph, but last weekend I had a change of heart. Have a read on my blog about what happened:

  2. Ferdy, I saw your pics and they are pretty amazing, specially the 2nd pic with the moonlight effect. This would seems a little awkward, but I gotta ask. Have you taken a professional course on photography or are you coming up with these ideas all by yourself..? Because I never thought that you can actually make a simple fungi look so elegant.

Since I am still learning photography, if there are any useful low light photography urls that you know about. Please do share the same. I would love to expand my knowledge before jumping in the field again.

  3. hi Avinash, thanks for the kind words. I am not professionally schooled in photography. I do endulge myself in a lot of resources. I'm subscribed to a paper magazine, read photography forums, but above all I simply look at a lot of photos, and often wonder how they are done.

As for low light photography, or better said, using remote flashes to control light, it's actually a very common practice in portrait photography, it's just that I didn't think of a use in nature before. I don't have any particular resource for this style of photography, I'm just experimenting on my own.

  4. hello Ferdy, We both seem so similar, we cant have a complete knowledge by just learning things theoretically. It is our interest and creative thinking and applying our minds and visualizing the things in different angle gets more knowledge. When we keep looking at the photographs taken many in the forum or outside the forum, we get to learn many things and also we get many ideas. We should keep experimenting new things as we progress, only practical experimenting could make us better and best.
