Madagascar, the red island

Madagascar, the red island This isn't much of a wildlife scene, I admit. I am posting this to show the contrast between Madagascar's natural landscapes, and those "developed" by humans:

The picture above is what you see most as you drive through the country. Steep hills robbed of trees and nothing replanted. Rice fields and small settlements claiming the land, exposing the rocky red soil of Madagascar. Geotagged,Madagascar,Tana

    Different scenes, but this is somewhat of a before and after:

    Madagascar, the green island On day 2 of our trip to Madagascar, we left the city of Tana and were on our way to our first wildlife destination: Andasibe. We stopped along the road for a small break and that is where we captured this landscape. Once upon a time, all of Madagascar looked like this, sadly, such a site is increasingly rare due to massive deforestation. Madagascar,Tana
