Leucistic alligators have an extremely rare genetic condition that reduces the colour pigmentation in their skin to zero ,in contradiction to albino only lacking the melanin pigment. The story goes that leucistics have blue eyes. I'm sorry to say I did not find out first hand.
Unfortunately these animals cannot survive on their own as they tend to stand out a bit more than their slightly more camouflaged brothers in arms. Ahum, so they have this invisible sign that says 'I am over here, why don't you have a bite..'
Hey, and this is one of them. You'd think it was a fake. I was lucky to see one of these beauties in 'La Ferme au Crocodiles' in the south of France. And he's one of 12 to survive on this planet.
